Why is the cEDH community so proxy friendly when so much of the greater Magic: The Gathering community isn’t? Well, part of it is that cEDH isn’t a sanctioned format, so we aren’t bound to using just real cards. But the other part of it–the thing that separates many cEDH players from others–is our need to play the best cards, regardless of our own level of wealth and card accessibility. A common phrase you’ll hear in the cEDH community is “I don’t want to play against someone’s wallet”, which just goes to show how widespread this whole sentiment is!
