In October of 2025, Wizards of The Coast changed their Game Changers list for Magic: The Gathering and took my favorite cEDH commander off. That commander? Winota, Joiner of Forces. But here’s the issue: I think that Winota IS actually a game changer, and I play the deck more than anyone I’ve ever met. Ultimately, Wizards has said two things simultaneously with this action: first, they have previously implied that the brackets are a tool intended to help kickstart the rule 0 conversation. This action also says they think Winota (who is banned in certain 60 card formats due to her power) is obviously powerful enough to spark a conversation on her own. The problem is this: I’ve never had someone ask that I play a different deck, even when prompted. Wizards, Winota IS a game changer, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Please, put her back on the list.
